Chocolate “Chess” Pie

chocolate chess pie.jpg

I had chess pie on my list for this month and someone suggested a *chocolate* chess pie. Angus Barn here in Raleigh has a well known chocolate chess so I use that recipe here unaltered.

Thing is, it’s not *really* a chess pie, as a friend of mine raised in Stone Mountain, GA was quick to point out.

Chess pie is pretty much eggs, sugar, vinegar, and corn meal. This recipe bats .500 on that, making it technically a custard pie.

After showing her roots by calling me out on this one, Stone Mountain insisted the Chess in this “Chess” pie bear the quotation marks of a poser. She does, however, agree that this is a fine looking pie and she would be happy to eat it.

2 eggs (beaten)

Refrigerate before serving.
